Sitting pretty...

This is Annabel's new wheelchair. Yes, it does look like a wheelchair but it is so important for her to be comfortable and be able to interact with others. The very first day we brought it home I placed her in the chair and wheeled her to the kitchen while I cooked supper. I was stirring something on the stove and heard this cabinet open and close. She had reached for a drawer knob and was pulling it in and out. Then she took her hand and rubbed it on the granite counter top feeling the smoothness or the coolness. It also has the pole so we can attach her pump and feeding bag along with her oxygen tanks if need be. When we travel to the doctors appointments in Houston it is hard to push her and pull the oxygen tanks also.
I have not mentioned the earthquake and these little innocent children and their families probably because I am so sickened by these circumstances. I know that we are all praying for the help to become organized and as many lives that can be touched and saved to be helped. Praying for all of our soldier that are serving anywhere and making such a difference for so many.

She looks so comfrotable in her chair. I love that she was able to sit in the kitchen with you and play in the cabinets. I even more so adore how in tune to her you are. Such an amazing mom. This chair will make both of your lives so much easier.

Yea!!!!! Just look at Annabel in her new chair! She looks so comfy and high. She is up and able to be more apart of everyone elses world....... So sweet that she is exploring her "new environment". I think she has the coolest wheels around. Nice to be able to connect so much to her chair and free up your ands for appointments too.
Thanks for posting, as a side note I agree completely with your comments about Haiti.....I just feel heartsick for the people displaced and lost. The faces of the children just breaks my heart.
I want to airlift these orphaned children out and no govt red tape PLEASE! Praying for some organization and order to help them rebuild their lives...

Annabel is like a breath of fresh air with all the sadness of Haiti.

I am sick to think about how the loss of the infrastructure there will slow down/halt adoptions. Can you imagine how hard it will be to prove that a child is eligible for adoption when so many precious parents have died and been buried with any documentation or identification? Or how paperwork (like Visas) will even be possible when so many offices are gone, and the loss of life so high? It took almost 12 months to welcome a child from Haiti when things were good - no travel advisories preventing adoptive parents from going there, parental consent from birth parents to relinquish the child, weeks and months of waiting for paperwork, etc... Now I cannot imagine what it would take to adopt from this poor, ravaged country.

I am praying specifically that God will streamline the needy children into loving homes. But other than this prayer it almost hurts too much to think about all those angels without their mommies, and there is nothing I can do about it.
Love,
Lisa

I would say that is sitting VERY pretty! How awesome that she can "get into things". It will stimulate her so much to be able to "plunder". Such a good "normal" kid thing to do! And we'll take all the normal we can get! Sage is a big plunderer, too!
It's got to make her feel so good to be up and have somewhere comfortable to be. Not to mention the added benefit of how it helps you!

Great chair Cathy and I love that she can explore with her hands while in the kitchen:) My prayers are for Haiti and all the help that is arriving. My heart is just sick for them. Praying for Tyler and all the rest of our kids. Love you.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

Sitting pretty indeed!

Thank you for sharing those moments of Annabel in the kitchen. People often underestimate the little and many ways that a wheelchair improves the life of a child.

I haven't been online in a few days, so I am glad to read your updates and see new photos! :) My Peanut has the same exact wheelchair, only it's purple. It does look like a wheelchair obviously ... but I can tell that it is SO comfortable for her! She just relaxes and doesn't hardly complain in it. The stroller chair she likes but after a while you can tell she isn't supported or comfy. And like Annabel, she is at a great height for actually interacting with life! :)

I was reading about her recovery. I hope she gets over the soreness soon and that released the cord makes a difference. How long do they expect it to be before you notice a difference or not? I hope it helps with her urinary issues as well. If not, I promise to answer any questions I can about the Mitrofanoff. It is a GODSEND!

Glad to see new pictures. Annabel makes my heart happy. :)

Ughhh, I have just spent the last 10 min. or so reading and updating myself on ALL that has gone on in your life. I feel awful for not knowing all that you were going through... I have been busy and that is no excuse, but life does seem to tear me away from where I would love to be all the time, which is here reading about your life and knowing what to pray for! Oh Cathy I am so sorry and feel just bad! I can not believe all that the Lord has asked of you to walk through lately... How are you doing? little Miss just looks so happy now and her chair looks good! I am sorry I never responded to your question as to what chair Abby has... it is a Jazz EASyS Stroller by Thomashilfen. I love it, but am not too comfortable with the "wheelchair look" of it. I tried for so long to not have this yucky looking stuff as long as I could get away with it. How is your boy? Have you heard from him lately? I will be praying for his safety and your heart as I know your hanging on and trying to let go at the same time... Little Miss, is she doing good? Is she done with surgery? I love all your family photos! I have your photo on our fridge and I love it! Thank you for sending us a card it meant so much! PLEASE know I am think of you all the time! A really good frind of mine that lived in TX just passed away from cancer.. I wanted to go to his funeral, was unable to but thought it would have been nice to see you if it were possible, don't know if Ceader Falls is close to you or not, but none the less I was unable to attend. Life as we get older gets so much harder with all the reality that hits you in the face! you are my hero as I think of all you have endured and have on your plate! What an inspiration you are to us all! Miss you friend and our chats! E-mail me if you get the chance, if you can't I completely understand! You are in my heart and PLEASE squeeze that little butterfly for me and kiss that sweet nose of hers! I miss her so!
