Looking better...

Just a quick post to say that she looks better since yesterday evening. She has been happier and more playful. She is still pale looking but no episodes or spells since yesterday.
She had begun on Monday having these spells of retching, gagging or choking, whatever you call it. They were lasting a really long time and she was miserable. She was very tired falling asleep within an hour of waking. This is very unusual for her as she was getting hard to put down for her naps. My fear was that she was trying to do away with her naps. YIKES! I still need that down time in my day. She has had oxygen before when hospitalized but we have never used the oxygen here at home. On Monday we had to begin to use it most of the time. By Tuesday she was not doing better so her pediatrician ordered x-rays. We also discovered by using her pulse-ox that her saturation levels were dipping into the low 70's at times during the night. Basically from after midnight until about 6:00 a.m. They always came back up, but the doctor doesn't like these numbers. I really never learned what all of these things meant. The x-rays came back with a pneumonia, asthma or bronchitis and enlarged heart. They put her on a stronger antibiotic and she seems so much better today. I really thought the respiratory was fairly cleared up.
Some of this doesn't surprise me. I have been noticing how loud she has begun to snore. She has always been a noisy breather, but I think it had become better for a couple years. Maybe just the summer seemed to get worse. Her episodes of not breathing when she sleeps were getting much longer and then her gasping up waking was more noticeable than before. We will now see our cardiologist to check on this and probably get a base line exam with a pulmonologist.
We are going out of town early in the morning until late Sunday evening. I hate to leave her when she may not be well. She is not able to make this trip with us and I do not have an option to not go. I know I am leaving her in very good hands. Already tonight I have received a video and a picture message of how happy she is.
All this said, I am really praying that this is all due to the air quality that she has been exposed to since the storm. If all goes well we should be moving next week and hopefully will see her stablilze in this area, especially before the winter months hit. I will close with a picture of this precious happy little face!

Cathy,

She's so beautiful and I just love her. I'm hoping all things will clear up for her and that she will return to her happy little self. Seeing them struggle is awful and it breaks my heart. Please know we are thinking of your sweet girl as we sit with ours in her hospital room. Wouldn't a dose of "normality" be wonderful! Take care my friend, Trish

Praying for her Cathy. I am sure that all the dampness and mold caused by the storm isn't helping her breathing. Asking God for healing here. I love you.

hi there Cathy. I feel just awful reading this post! I so hope that she comes around and soon! Do you know for sure that the results of the ex-rays are correct?? Abby and I have been out sicker than dogs the last two weeks, but we are coming around... she is on antibiotics and I refuse to go to the docs, can't stand them! I am feeling much better than I was just still tired. Sorry don't mean to un-load on my comment to ya, but you know I love you all and will continue to pray for you and Annabel! Miss you friend.

Yes the retching, choking episodes are really yucky...looks like these are a fact of life for our kids...just gastro system not strong. I hope annabel gets through with the antibiotics. She is such a fighter!

Hi Cathy!

I am still in Boston having a wonderful time with Avery. Have been following your news and praying for our little Miss Annabel. I was really afraid this would happen due to the damp, soggy drying out period you all have to go through to get back to normal.

I am so sorry about your beach house and losing everything there. I know you and your family have such wonderful memories and I hope that you find the strength to rebuild and enjoy again.

Hope things are going well on your house as you get ready to move into a new one while repairs are being made. God is so good to provide and keep Annabel in a dry, safe place during this phase.

Hugs and kisses to the girl with the impossibly long eye lashes and the most beautiful smile in the world!!!!

May God continue to embrace you tightly as you move your lives back to normal.

Love,
Kathy

Annabel et. all remain in my prayers. I like the quote from Max Lucado, it really hits where I was at times this week in dealing with this Trisomy thing.

I wish I had something more inspiring/uplifing to write...

Thank you for your continued suppport and encouragement; seeing your posts at Alyssa's sight always bring a smile.

Hope you had a good rest filled weekend and you find Annabel's health has improved.
Seek HIM in all things!
