Just how it is....

I guess the picture summarizes our last week or so. We have had some tummy troubles and some testing. Annabel's gut continues to be full of air and she was seeming to be in intense pain especially in the evening. It was talked about her having some sort of obstruction, but that was ruled out after almost 11 hours of continuous testing. She seems to have incredibly slow motility. The next day was spent in Houston having shoulder x-rays which her PMR dr. suspected dislocation from previous x-rays. After 3 different sets trying to get them just right they just ruled that it is consistent with a neromuscular disorder (basically low/weak muscle tone affects the alignment). I never felt she had a dislocation but I hated to just ignore what they were saying. After these appt. made it to GI dr. We are going to try to readjust her laxative and how we are giving it but his recommendation is a fundiplication(sp.?). I would have to be convinced to have this procedure as to the fact that she has never showed any reflux after numerous testing to rule this out. So I have been a little exhausted with her not attending school and just the stress of being up several nights listening to her scream in pain. At this point she is moving things through by adding Milk of Magnesia every 4-6 hours with tons of water. She has made two days of school and that provides me with a huge rest. We assume the flu is visiting our home with Mel and Colette (one of the twins) being affected. Trying to juggle sick rooms from well rooms so Annabel hopefully will not come down with this. It is bringing very high fever, severe headache and aching all over. This would scare me if Annabel would get this. She did come down with cold/runny nose again this weekend but no fever and she is sleeping at night, YIPPEE!
As you can tell from the picture we have had many P.J. days!

Thanks for the update...knew annabel must be under the weather when you don't post. Can't imagine this sweet little girl screaming in pain... Any kind mothers who can offer breastmilk? It works wonders for pooing and immunity! Hope the sick spell doesn't last so long. It's so stressful when it makes its rounds.

I am praying for Annabel and for you too Cathy. I am so sorry to hear that she has been feeling punky again. I hope that this can be resolved for her soon and that she does not get the bug that is going around in your home. I think this is one of the reasons that winter is my least favorite season!! Praying for spring to get here. I love you Cathy and am praying.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

Poor Miss Annabel! Hope you and your family are feeling better real soon! And, hope your momma gets the rest that she needs too!

What kind of highchair is that and where did you get it? It looks like it reclines a little bit? Looks like a great one for Gavin and children that can't sit up well!

Take care!

I hope she is better soon, too!

Have to say, I think the photo shows her being very cute. Kind of hangin' out'. So different from most of the other photos of her, but she is beautiful in all.

hi, i have been following your blog for a while now..

just wanted to comment on a few things, first - as far as the gut full of air/gas. my son has this happen every few months. its very strange and we havent been able to figure it out! it really affects his appetite and his mood. he slowly stops eating over about a weeks time and gets to the point of not being able to take anything in. it happened again just a few days ago - i tried a bolus feed and i couldnt even get anything in, he was so tight! anyways im rambling now! he was prescribed donnatal elixir the last time we visited the ER for this. within an hour or so he is better!

as far as the fundo, did they say why? my son had one at 11 months because of severe reflux.. i know its used for aspiration issues as well... ask alot of questions before going to this extreme
