Mother's Day...

I want to begin by thanking my Mom for being the awesome Mom that she is and putting up with me. She has been there for me and loved me through all the good, the bad, and the ugly. So without her, I would not be here to thank these next five special ladies, first names only.

The first of these special ladies is Tammy. She came into my life in September of 1981. Tammy is the mother of my first born son, Derek. He was born on her birthday and she made this sacrifice so that I could be a Mom. How awesome is that!!!

The second of these special ladies is Denise. She came into my life in May of 1984.
Denise is the mother of my second child, my daughter, Tara. I remember the call in the wee hours of the morning that I had a little girl and I began to cross-stitch a little recieving gown with anything pink. What an awesome sacrifice that she went through so I could experience the love of my daughter.

The third of these special ladies is Karen. She came in my life in December of 1987. Karen is the mother of my second son, Tyler. She actually met us and chose us in a meeting. Tyler was born 8 weeks early and she made the sacrifice of trusting me with this little, bitty bundle of joy.
The fourth of these special ladies is Melissa. She came into my life in August of 1992. Melissa is the mother of my twin daughters, Carly and Colette. It is unbelievable that she sacrificed the love of the two babies so I could (what we thought) complete our family.

The fifth of these special ladies is Amanda. She came into my life in March of 2005. She is the mother of Annabel, who has taught us so many things. The most of which is what is really important in this journey.

Many years ago the specialist told me that I would probably never be a Mom. Yes, I was sad, because this is all I have ever wanted. Tonight, after rocking Annabel, I can only think of how grateful I am to the Mothers in my life. I would not know the love I am blessed with, had it not been for the sacrifices of these wonderful mothers. Thank you all for your sacrifices which has allowed my dreams to come true. I will forever be grateful to these five women! I truly believe that it is through God's faithfulness and His goodness that our lives were brought together.

Cathy,

I learned a life lesson today. Never read Annabel's site in a public place. Tears can be embarrasing.

Have a great Birthday.

Well Cathy I read it again at home, and once again cried like a baby. The more I learn about you the more amazed I become.

As an adopted mother, I have never given a moments thought of my son's birth mother. It may be that she did not give him up willingly, or because of the damage she caused him inutero. Most likely it is the difference between the two of us. You always see the good in people, you are an exceptionally generous person and you have my greatest respect.

This time I will sign my name, as this morning I was crying my eyes out and could no longer see the keys.

Cathy-

I read your beautiful post yesterday and was just blown away by you! What an amazing tribute to 5 mothers that have given you your hearts desires (and fulfilled God's will) and in the same way, you have given them the mothers and your children the beautiful option of life!

I hope Sunday was truly a day of celebration for you!

Love lots,
Kenzie

Goes to show what doctors know, I was also told that I would never be a MOM. I was able after seven years to conceive two beautiful daughter in spite of the odds. What they don't realize is that a MOM is not someone who gives birth, but someone who is there for a child in the good times and the bad. They are the ones that cry when their child is hurting and laugh when their child is happy. My sister Edie has proven that, she adopted a special child also, but I did know how special he really was! Ben has become such a big part of our lives that it never even crosses my mind that is is not full blooded Comeaux through and through. Occasionally we even call him "Buford" my dads name, when he shows some of the same behaviors even through he didn't know my dad.
Cathy you are also a MOM I admire, you have sacrificed much to provide Annabel with the very best life possible. Against all odds she has not only survived but thrived! She has so many people that love her, including my WHOLE family. Your commitment to her is a true testament to who you are! I know you have made your MOM very proud!
